The baby boomer generation, those born between 1946 1964 make up about 27% of the population but control a much larger percentage of spendable wealth.
The world renowned economist Paul Zane Pilser has analyzed the buying habits of these baby boomers.
This is basically a synopsis of those buying trends and habits. First they have a keen sense of awareness of wellness. Consequently they will spend considerable money to stay healthy and younger looking.
One of the primary characteristics of the baby boomer generation is how they shop plus their spending habits. They are typically financially able to spend a large percentage of their income on items beyond the basic necessities of life.
The smart sophisticated intelligent consumer when shopping will typically look for and select the best-quality product their budget will allow. That is because they have learned that a quality well-made product will almost always save them money, long-term as it not only will last longer, but also perform better. If one can afford it, it almost never pays to buy a poorer quality alternative. It is hard to get ahead when you are continuing to replace a product when it is worn out.
This having been said an expensive option to a product is not necessarily the same as a quality product.
Add on amenities may or may not contribute to the overall quality of the product being considered. Consider that adding all the extra amenities to an automobile adds nothing to the quality and reliability of the vehicle. However, trying to save money by purchasing a lesser quality automobile will often cost more long term due to increased repair costs.
One last habit of baby boomers I wanted to comment on was in the area of reusable items. For example a wellness or nutrition product. They may select a lesser product initially when trying out a product they will almost always gravitate toward the highest quality version of this product as they realize it is the most cost effective version.
Plus who wants to settle for second best when they can have the best and pay less in the long run. If you want to become like the wealthy and savvy you must model their traits and habits and one of those is always selecting the highest quality and best quality products and merchandise they can possibly afford.
This is why we as a merchant have elected to only provide you with the very best quality products along with our dedication to the very best service.
